Snapper 30083S Mower, Rear Engine Rider

The 8hp engine is no longer available. The 8hp Briggs engines had a 3/4" threaded muffler port, while the OHV models do not have internal threads. The throttle linkage on the new Briggs engines run horizontally instead of vertically, so you may have to get a longer cable for this to work correctly.

Additional Info

Here are some notes from a Briggs OHV 219977 engine installation: 1. Left side flare cut off at least 9 inches from aft edge for block clearance. 2. Right side flare cut off at least 5.5 inches from aft edge for muffler clearance. 3. Shorten the throttle cable (note the stop position on the throttle will no longer shut the engine off, must use the key. No ground on the carburetor linkage). 4. Modify electrical harness for alternator plug from Tecumseh to B&S or modify the B&S alternator wire to Tecumseh plug. 5 Replaced the interlock switch for the Tecumseh engine to one for a B&S.
