Some of these were electric start and some were recoil only. You would have to use your shroud and starter cup and recoil to make the engine recoil start if you buy an electric start engine. You can add a battery and key switch to your mower if you buy an electric start engine and you are replacing a recoil only engine. We have been told that these mowers do not need a fuel pump however if you have a fuel pump you would need the engine with a fuel pump or fuel pump provisions.
